About us!
Psi Chapter of South Dakota
Alpha Phi is a sisterhood of women supporting one another in lifelong achievement.
Background
Alpha Phi was founded at Syracuse University in 1872 by ten of the first nineteen women admitted to the newly opened university. Our founders were women with brave hearts that were filled with a noble purpose. They hoped to create a "social center, a place of conference, a tie which should unite a circle of friends who could sympathize with one another in their perplexities."

On September 18, 1872 these ten women inititated themselves into the Alpha Phi Fraternity. Since then, our sisterhood has grown to include over 150 chapters and more than 200,000 members throughout the United States and Canada. Alpha Phi continues to exist today because of the vision and ideals held by these ten exceptional women who ceased such a strong foundation of sisterhood. Aenet of our sisterhood which encourages support of one another through the good times and the bad, whether helping one another with academics or providing much needed support during a rough time.
